For a Smokin’ Summer BBQ, Let Us Do the Cookin’!

A spread of fried chicken, mac and cheese, salad, mashed potatoes, BBQ, and more

The Roadhouse’s Slow-Smoked Feast for Home Menu

It’s a beautiful day and your loved ones are gathered—for a party, to watch the game, or to enjoy summer in Michigan. Know what would make it even better?! If we took care of the cooking, of course!

Our Feast for Home menu features your favorites from the Roadhouse in quantities that will accommodate your crew*, so you can enjoy a classic cookout… without doing the cooking! Calling us up to cater is not only a much lower lift than making everything yourself, but it’s also an easy way to elevate the menu from basic burgers and dogs. Treat your guests, and yourself, to a full-flavored summer BBQ!

Feast for Home Menu

Everyone knows that meat is the star of any BBQ. As Chef Bob Bennett told Tasting Table, one of the keys to knowing whether or not you’re at a good BBQ restaurant is whether they do whole hog barbecue (Spoiler: we do!). As he explained, “For me, it shows a lot of skill and dedication to their craft.” We learned the secrets of whole-hog Eastern North Carolina BBQ from Raleigh’s BBQ pitmaster Ed Mitchell. His invaluable training has been passed along to continue in the hands of our pitmasters, who smoke our tender, full-flavored pork and beef, tending to our 13-foot BBQ pit for hours, so you don’t have to hover over a grill.

But while meat is the main event, don’t sleep on the sides—they turn those meats into a meal. And, having a solid selection of sides means they can stand on their own as a meal for non-meat eaters.

Full-Flavored Pit-Smoked Meats

Whole Pit-Smoked Amish Chicken

One big advantage of a weekday shindig is the opportunity to enjoy one of our pit-smoked chickens! Available Mondays through Thursdays, these whole Amish chickens are rubbed with freshly ground Tellicherry black pepper and salt, then put on the pit to smoke slowly for a few hours.

8-Piece Buttermilk Fried Chicken Box

One of our all-time most popular dishes! Our Buttermilk Fried Chicken starts with farm-raised Amish chicken, marinated in buttermilk and breaded in Tellicherry black pepper-seasoned flour, then deep-fried to golden brown.

Roadhouse Niman Ranch Pit-Smoked Ribs

We start with sustainably raised pork, season it with sea salt, Tellicherry black pepper, cumin, and coriander, and then pit-smoke them for a few hours. Then, they braise in the oven with a little organic Quebec cider vinegar for a few hours, and then steam for another few hours! It takes a lot of time to make our seriously tender, incredibly flavorful ribs

14-Hour Pit-Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork

We exclusively use pasture-raised Old English breeds for our whole-hog pit barbecue and smoke them slowly for 14 hours for the best pit-smoked pulled pork you’ve ever had.

Pit-Smoked & Braised ‘til Tender BBQ Beef

Just like its name says! Our beef comes from Midwest pasture-raised cows to ensure better-tasting and more tender beef, and we butcher all cuts in-house. Then we pit-smoke the front quarter of our beef, braise it ’til it’s tender, then hand-pull it.

Satisfying Sauces

Eastern North Carolina Sauce

Our pit-smoked pork is finished with this cider vinegar-based sauce, so it boasts a tangy bite. But there is nothing wrong with adding a little extra of this traditional flavor to add even more oomph to your sandwich!

Red Rage Sauce

Don’t let the name scare you! Many of our friends enjoy the Red Rage with its balance of sweet, spicy, and zesty flavors. This red tomato-based BBQ sauce is a favorite Memphis tradition.

South Carolina Mustard Sauce

An amazing alternative for anyone who typically enjoys the sweet and spicy flavors of a red sauce, but wants to try something a little different. Made with yellow mustard, this “Carolina Gold” sauce is fantastic on our pulled pork.

Comforting Sides & More

Yellow Mustard Coleslaw

Chopped cabbage and carrots with balsamic vinegar and Raye’s yellow mustard. (Raye’s is a four-generation, family-owned business in Maine, making mustard in small batches using the last stone-gound mustard mill in America!) Chef Bennett told Tasting Table, “I think the sides are almost as important as the barbecue as a part of the experience,” and listed coleslaw as one of his go-to’s, for a hint of acidity and freshness.

Roadhouse Macaroni & Cheese

A classic comfort food taken up a notch (okay, a few notches!). We make our Macaroni & Cheese with a housemade béchamel sauce and lots of Cabot cheddar caramelized with Mancini pasta.

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potatoes are hand-cut and twice-cooked to make our Sweet Potato Fries. Based on a traditional Sea Islands recipe, and served with house-made spicy mayonnaise, these are a perennial crowd-pleaser.

Roadhouse Buttermilk Biscuits

Fresh baked buttery biscuits are a Roadhouse staple for any meal. (Did you know that they’re not only the star of many a Roadhouse meal, but they’re also a superhero… on our T-shirts at least!)

Zingerman’s Bakehouse Buns

Another one of Chef Bennett’s favorites, especially for BBQ or Fried Chicken sandwiches. As he told Daily Meal, “Brioche bun is my favorite as it has a nice lightness to it … and will also make your sandwich sweeter with its buttery flavor.”

That’s just a handful of highlights! We also have a trifecta of salads (Kale & Pinenut Salad, Roadhouse Simple Salad, and Caesar Salad), Ancho Beef Chuck Chili, Roasted Vegetables, Roadhouse Mashed Potatoes, Home-Style Chicken Gravy, Southern-Style Bacon-Braised Greens, Anson Mills Organic Soft White Grits, Carolina Gold Rice, Ari’s Pimento Cheese, and Zingerman’s Bakehouse breads.

Oh, and you know we wouldn’t skip a sweet finale for your celebration! We offer a selection of baked goods from our friends at, Zingerman’s Bakehouse, including coffee cakes, brownies, and cookies. And if you’d rather skip the dishes (who wouldn’t!), we’ve got you covered with disposables, serving utensils, and more. Should you need to reheat your feast, we have step-by-step instructions ready to go.
